Sunday, January 17th

Bob and I both got up around 6:30. We had fun talking about the old days at Junior Nature Camp and going through some old photos while having our coffee and Mexican cheese bread.

It had been raining steadily and was not showing any signs of letting up so we decided to organize some indoor activities.

When I visited Bob in 2005 we hiked on one of the local greenways. At the time the trail we were on was not complete for lack of a bridge or two. This included a span which had to cross the Cumberland River. Above is a shot of that bridge - The Cumberland River Pedestrian Bridge.

The bridge is 745 feet long and cost over 5 million dollars to build. Ride on!

Not the lunch I anticipated. But, Buddy Bob was extolling the virtues of the Wetzel Pretzel Dog, so we both had one.

We had this gastronomic delight at a mall we were walking around in looking for a t-neck for me. After checking god knows how many stores we left the mall and fled to the woods.

We went over to Radnor Lake where I had been hiking previously with Bob in March of 2008. We saw this sign then as well. The sign sates if you are caught running or jogging on the trails you will be fined $196.50. These folks are serious about trying to prevent trail damage! I guess if you got caught Mt Biking on the trail you would be executed and it would serve you right.

I was not sure what this tree was. I have seen a lot of them in the Nashville area parks.

Tree huggers.

Hiking always makes Bob and I hungry - so why not eat!?

Wow. A goblet full of "Mixto" Ceviche - both fish and shrimp. We had seen this listed on the Las Americas menu the previous visit and Bob had wanted to try it. Good thinkin', Bob!

After we left Las Americas we stopped at several "SuperMercados" in search of a particular hot sauce I wanted to pick up. No one had it and one place recommended the K&S World Market.

Once upon a time while visiting brother William in Tucson I picked up a bottle of La Guacamaya Hot Sauce.

When I got it home we used it on our burritos and Betsy LOVED it! It is now long gone and I always look for it on the road, but I have never found it. But, I thought I would give this place a try.

Bob told me this place had everything. He wasn't kidding. The fish selection was out of this world. I had to keep reminding myself I was in Nashville, not Chinatown.

Not the kind of peanut farmer you would see around here.

Some kind of sticky, sweet marshmallow thingy on a cookie.

Well, in spite of the incredibly diverse inventory there was no La Guacamaya Hot Sauce to be found anywhere. But, it sure was fun looking around and it made us work up an appetite. Next stop...

... Hooters! for a big plate of 20 wings which Bob and I demolished in short order.

Now, all that eating makes a feller hungry and I knew a late evening snack might be welcome. But, what to get!?

Chicharrón!

I had been wanting to try the crispy little morsels for a long time and I was finally going to get the chance. So I ordered a half pound and paid a whopping 59¢.

We also got us some beers and then headed back to Belle Meade where Bob put the little devils under the broiler for a few minutes until they were sizzlin' hot. Mmm, mmm, good!

Whew! What a day... Thanks, Bob!!!
