We sat and yakked while Willa had a snack.
The structure pictured is the banding station. Mist nets are placed along the front. When the birds are removed from the net they are bagged and taken to the banding station to be IDed, sexed, aged, banded and released. One morning this September 555 birds were banded. This was the highest number since 1998.
Back at the camp site we took turns with Willa to give Jeff and Natasha a break and have a little fun.
After breaking camp on Sunday morning the rain started in earnest. Good timing!
A distant figure (John Kulp) makes his way along the road. This beautiful shot epitomizes the lonely and remote feeling of wilderness evoked when visiting Dolly Sods.
