Brett and Parker carry out more essential repairs.

And discuss their situation, Parker says he wants to get off this planet as soon as possible, it gives him the creeps.

In the infirmary, attempts to remove the creature from Kane's face have stopped for now......

......while Ash tries to find out more about it.

He's so involved in what he's doing, he doesn't hear Ripley approach, she surprises him slightly.

Ripley asks what he has discovered, she soon finds that he hasn't found a great deal.  She challenges him about disobeying her orders, saying that when Dallas and Kane are off the ship, she is the commanding officer.

He asks her what she would have done with Kane.  He feels that getting him on board was his only chance of survival.  He tells Ripley to do her own job, and let him do his.

Later, Dallas is in the shuttle relaxing when he gets a call from Ash,  He asks him to come to the infirmary right away.  Dallas asks Ripley to meet him there.

They enter to find that the alien creature seems to have vanished.

Ripley searches.....

Ash searches....

and Dallas searches.

Ripley finds it, It falls onto her shoulder from the units above her head.

She screams in horror and throws it to the floor.

Ash gets it up onto the table to have a closer look.

The three of them inspect it.

Ash tells the others he is certain it's dead.  Ripley says she happy to hear it, now get it in the airlock and get rid of it.

Ash says there's no way its going out into space, It has to go back, all sorts of tests have to be made.  He asks for Dallas's approval.

Ripley explains to Dallas that she doesn't like the idea of keeping it on board and taking it back to Earth with them.  He says that Ash is the science officer and anything to do with scientific decisions is up to him.

Ripley asks him what he knows about Ash,  Dallas explains that Ash was replaced with Ash two days before they left Earth.

I don't trust him.

"I don't trust anybody" is Dallas's reply.  He asks how the repairs are going, Ripley says they are nearly finished, there's a couple of minor systems to get back online.  Dallas says that's a "bunch of horse crap" and they can take off without them.
