Welcome to the Wikipedia image gallery. The purpose of this page is to provide a browsable repository of images that are available on Wikipedia. Only public domain, copyleft, and otherwise free images are included in this repository. Please add all free images to these pages, regardless of whether they are already linked to from another article or not.

Note: If you want to reuse any of the images in this repository, please check that the specific image is indeed free. Mistakes can happen, and the fact that an image is listed here does not guarantee that it has indeed the correct copyright status. If you find an image that is not free, please remove it from the list.

If a new image does not fit in any of the existing categories listed here, and should have its own category (that is, there are more images likely to be available of the same type), please create the appropriate category or subcategory.

For a list of recently uploaded images see Special:Log/upload. For a list of requested images for articles, see Wikipedia:Requested pictures. Images that are not linked to by any article can be found under Special:Unusedimages.

On the image pages, format images as follows:

If you can't figure out which category to put an image in, put it into Miscellaneous.

What is a free image

A free image is an image which is either public domain in all countries or is licensed to all by the copyright holder under a free content license. A free content license must allow all recipients to use the content for any purpose, copy it, modify it, and to redistribute modified versions.
