The 17th Street Canal is a drainage canal in New Orleans, Louisiana that flows into Lake Pontchartrain. After Hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans, the 17th Street Canal Levee was breached over a two city-block wide length, contributing to extensive flooding in New Orleans.
