Termini

The highway's eastern terminus is Norway, Michigan at U.S. Highway 2 in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan near the border with Wisconsin. The western terminus is in Forest Lake, Minnesota with U.S. Highway 61 at Interstate 35. Originally it reached downtown Minneapolis before Interstate 35W supplanted most of it west of Forest Lake. Except for the short freeway segment near Forest Lake, a 5-mile stretch near Lake Geneva, and a section between the eastern junction of Wisconsin Highway 35 and the St. Croix River bridge, it is all undivided surface road.
